The Disec MG 355 & MG310 MagnateK (Mag.Dec.) offers a smart and non-destructive solution for unlocking DISEC magnetic defenders. It handles even advanced models with multiple rotor (turret) heads and anti-pick cuts.
Instead of forcing the mechanism, Mag.Dec. reads the magnetic configuration of the defender. This allows the operator to unlock it smoothly, silently, and without leaving any marks.
Moreover, once it decodes the correct combination, the tool stores the code. As a result, there’s no need to repeat the process when unlocking the same defender again.
The Disec MG 355 & MG310 MagnateK Decoders use four rotating rotors. Each rotor contains two magnets that must align at a specific angle to unlock the defender.
However, modern DISEC models include “fake code” positions that make decoding more difficult. These decoys are designed to prevent accidental manipulation and mislead the operator.
To bypass this, the decoder tests each rotor by rotating it through different positions and monitoring magnetic field changes. As each rotor moves into place, the tool detects subtle deviations that help reveal the correct unlocking combination.
Typically, the entire process takes between 2 and 8 minutes—even in the most challenging cases.
The kit includes:
1. Identifying the Defender Profile
Start by checking whether the MG 355 & MG310 MagnateK Decoder matches the defender’s profile. To do this quickly and accurately, use the visual pattern integrated into the decoder as a reference.
2. Polarity Testing
Next, determine the polarity of the magnets in each rotor using the included test plate and magnetic rod. Follow these steps for precise results:
First, insert the test plate into the defender, ensuring it’s oriented correctly.
Then, use the magnetic rod to test each of the four rotor positions (1, 2, 3, and 4).
At each position, observe one of the following results:
Two negative magnets: The “+” end of the magnetic stick is attracted, while the “–” end is pushed away.
Two positive magnets: The “+” end is repelled from all areas of the position.
Mixed polarity: Both the “+” and “–” ends of the magnetic stick are attracted.
3. Configuring the Decoder
After identifying the polarity of all four rotors, adjust the knobs on the MG 355 & MG310 MagnateK Decoder to match the magnetic layout of the defender. This step ensures proper alignment before starting the decoding process.
Adjusting the Decoder and Starting the Process
The Disec MG 355 & MG310 MagnateK Decoders include knobs that you can adjust to match the polarity of the defender. After performing the polarity test, you may find that one or more rotors contain two positive magnets. In that case, fix the configuration by turning the rotor head, removing one of the magnets, flipping it, and reinserting it in reverse. This simple adjustment usually takes about 2 minutes to complete for all four knobs.
Once you align the decoder with the correct polarity, you’re ready to start decoding.
Initial Setup:
First, place all knobs in their starting positions. Use the alignment lines as guides.
Next, begin rotating the knobs. Each rotation scale is divided into 16 sectors, and you’ll feel a distinct “tick” with every small adjustment.
These ticks help you track position changes and guide you as you test each possible combination.
Insert the Decoder
Begin by inserting the MG 355 & MG310 MagnateK Decoder into the defender’s keyway. Apply tension in the direction indicated by the front-facing arrow on the decoder.
Set a Reference Point
Observe the laser spot on the floor. Mark or mentally note its position, as it will help detect subtle movements during decoding.
Test Knob No. 1
Rotate Knob No. 1 one tick to the right. Then, release the tension briefly and reapply it.
Monitor the Laser
After each adjustment, watch the laser spot closely for any deviation from the marked position. Any movement may indicate progress toward the correct combination.
Advance to the Next Rotor
If you notice a deviation, stop turning the current knob. Then, move on to the next rotor and repeat the same steps.
Record Final Positions
After decoding, make sure to record the position of each knob. This allows you to restore the decoder to the successful unlocking configuration in the future.
